Maxwell Dixon — better known as Grand Puba — stands as one of the most vital yet under-celebrated architects of Golden Era hip-hop.
Effortless flow. Five-Percenter mathematics. Street-level swagger. He made enlightenment sound cool and turned fashion into a movement.

In 1992 Puba stepped away from Brand Nubian and dropped his solo classic Reel to Reel, featuring the iconic “360 Degrees (What Goes Around).”
That same year he co-wrote and appeared on Mary J. Blige’s debut title track What’s the 411? — helping forge the blueprint for the Hip-Hop/R&B collaborations that would dominate the next three decades.

Before artists sat front row at fashion week, Grand Puba was the patron saint of ’90s urban style. Tommy Hilfiger, Girbaud, Polo Ralph Lauren — he didn’t just wear the gear, he made it the uniform of a generation.
